2 Pieces of Bread–your choice

1 Veg Patty–again, your discretion (for the purposes of this exercise, I used ASDA’s Moroccan Bean Burgers)

2 Leaves of Lettuce

1 Tomato

A few swipes of non-dairy spread (Tesco has a good one called Vitalite for £1)

Dash of barbeque sauce (I use Reggae Reggae Sauce)


Place burger on greased baking sheet or plain aluminium foil, from frozen, the Moroccan one’s about 20 minutes at 200°C.  If you’re using a boxed burger, follow the instructions on the box.  Now I assume anyone reading this would know how to construct the rest of the sandwich, but last week, I was asked very seriously how to make a sandwich, so for this first example, I’ll spell it out:

Toast bread, if you want to, use knife to put butter/margarine on bread/toast, put burger on 1 bread, put lettuce  and cut tomato, and some barbeque sauce if you’d like, put second piece of bread on top and push down a bit so it stays.

    Good job explaining how to construct a burger; I like to use mayo or Thousand Island dressing instead of butter. Your photo looks very inviting as well.

    • Thanks Mom ;). When I get the ingredients together, I’ll make up some Thousand Island. Till then, it’s ketchup, bbq, or butter. Any suggestions for sauce composition that I can’t find online?
